Richard Burlet es nuestro artista presentado esta semana. Sus retratos femeninos nos transportan a un lugar romántico imaginario. Ellas, siempre con el semblante serio, se presentan majestuosas y a veces desafiantes.

Burlet nace en Francia en 1957 y toda su formación académica tiene lugar en ese país, primero en Niza en la Escuela de Bellas Artes y después desde 1977 en la Escuela Nacional Superior de Paris.

Las características mas destacadas de sus mujeres, que presenta de frente y de perfil, son sus profundas miradas y la extravagante vestimenta tomada de tiempos de antaño. Igual de ricos son los tocados o turbantes que cubren sus cabellos recogidos. Algunos cuadros incorporan elementos del renacimiento, como son la ventana que muestra un lejano paisaje o algunos ropajes que nos recuerdan a los de las modelos de los grandes maestros del Renacimiento.

Pero el pintor del que mayor influencia lleva es sin duda el austriaco Gustav Klimt. Los fondos de las paredes, los dibujos sobre el textil y la sofisticación en general de sus personajes recuerdan y mucho a Klimt.

Los colores predominantes son el rojo púrpura y tonalidades de azul, así como el oro y la plata, con lo que realza toda su paleta cromática.

Sophisticated women

Richard Burlet is the artist presented this week. His female portraits transport us to an imaginary romantic place. The women, always with a serious face, appear majestic and sometimes challenging.

Burlet was born in France in 1957 and all his academic training took place in that country, first in Nice at the School of Fine Arts and after that, since 1977 at the National Superior School in Paris.

The most outstanding features of his women, whom he presents by front and by profile, are their deep looks and the extravagant dresses, taken from times of yesteryear. Equally rich are the headdresses or turbans that cover their tied hair. Some paintings incorporate elements of the Renaissance, such as the window that shows a distant landscape or some clothes that remind us of the models of the great masters of the Renaissance.

But the painter with the greatest influence on him is undoubtedly the Austrian Gustav Klimt. The backgrounds of the walls, the pattern on the textiles and the general sophistication of his characters are reminiscent of Klimt.

The predominant colors are purple red and shades of blue, as well as gold and silver, which enhances all his chromatic palette.
