Nacido en Cataluña en 1861, Santiago Rusiñol fue un emblemático artista que dominaba tanto el arte de la pintura como el de las letras. A lo largo de su larga vida artística se dedico a la pintura como su principal forma de expresión, pero también fue escritor y dramaturgo, por lo que ha pasado a la historia como uno de los mas polifacéticos artistas que ha dado Cataluña.

A los 70 años murió en el año 1931 después de una vida acomodada, porque provenía de una familia rica, industriales del textil. El no se dedico al negocio familiar, pero este le permitió vivir una existencia cómoda y holgada, pudiendo viajar a muchos países y enriquecer su arte con las influencias del extranjero.

Su obra es principalmente paisajista y su estilo se cataloga en el modernismo catalán. Verás sin embargo que tiene igualmente influencias del impresionismo, por el tiempo pasado en Paris.

Rara vez aparece una persona en su obra, pero cuando lo hace, es plasmada con la misma maestría como sus bellísimos paisajes.

Santiago Rusiñol

Born in Catalonia in 1861, Santiago Rusiñol was an emblematic artist who dominated both the art of painting and that of letters. Throughout his long artistic life he devoted himself to painting as his main form of expression, but he was also a writer and playwright, for which he has gone down in history as one of the most versatile artists that Catalonia has given.

At age 70 he died in 1931 after a well-off life, because he came from a rich family of textile industrialists. He did not dedicate himself to the family business, but this allowed him to live an easy and comfortable existence, being able to travel to many countries and enrich his art with foreign influences.

His work is mainly landscape and his style is cataloged in Catalan modernism. You will see, however, that it is equally influenced by Impressionism, by the time spent in Paris.

Rarely does a person appear in his work, but when it does, it is portrayed with the same mastery as his beautiful landscapes.
