Dean Mitchell es un pintor de renombre en Estados Unidos. Nació en 1957 en Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, pero se crió en Florida. Sus estudios de arte los acabó en el College of Art & Design en Columbus, Ohio.

Su pintura es muy característica, casi siempre paisajes y pequeñas ciudades del Centro de Estados Unidos casi siempre desprovistas de vida o encontrando pocos personajes en sus composiciones. Las calles y casas abandonadas aparecen a menudo como tema dominante.

Las técnicas que emplea son variadas, principalmente acuarela, óleo y acrílico. Pero en ocasiones también utiliza tempera al huevo y lápices pastel.

Su paleta es sombría, a menudo con marrones, ocres y grises. De sus cuadros emana una sensación de melancolía. Se puede decir lo mismo de sus personajes, cuando pinta retratos, que es su otro tema favorito después de los paisajes.

Dean Mitchell is a renowned artist in the United States. He was born in 1957 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but grew up in Florida. He finished his art studies at the College of Art & Design in Columbus, Ohio.

His paintings are very characteristic, mostly landscapes and small cities of the central part of America, almost always devoid of life or finding few characters in his compositions. Abandoned streets and houses often appear as the dominant theme.

The techniques used are varied, mainly watercolor, oil and acrylic. But sometimes he also uses egg tempera and pastel pencils.

His palette is dimmed, often with browns, ochres and grays. From his paintings emanates a sense of melancholy. The same can be said of his characters, when he paints portraits, which is his other favorite subject after landscapes.

The work of Dean Mitchell is represented by prestigious art galleries throughout America and he has received important recognition awards during his long career.
